Demolition Makes Way For Next Priory Quarter Offices
Posted on July 9, 2012
Demolition work starts today in Hastings’ Priory Quarter town centre business district. This will clear the way for 24,000 sq ft of high standard new offices as part of the on-going regeneration of the town.
Sea Change Sussex, the new economic development company, is overseeing the work by Syd Bishop & Sons (Demolition) Ltd (SBS), the family firm that has been trading since 1929. The work is expected to take four months, Sea Change then plans to start construction of the new offices later this year, completing this in 2014.
The SBS team will demolish the former Hastings Voluntary Action building at the top of Priory Street and number 2 to 7 Havelock Road, the poor condition, unused buildings between Queensbury House and Lacuna Place.
To ensure maximum safety and least disruption, the team plans to undertake most of the demolition by hand.
