Tesco Opens Doors of First New Retail Business in Hastings’ Priory Quarter

The Tesco Express store is on the ground floor of the new Lacuna Place office development within Priory Quarter and is open 7am – 10pm, seven days a week. The supermarket chain is leasing the 4,542 sq ft unit from Coastal Land LLP, a joint venture between economic development company Sea Space and The Land Group.
A few metres away, further retail premises are available to let from Coastal Land in the form of a 3,143 sq ft café/restaurant unit with outdoor seating. This unit fronts Havelock Road – the main route from Hastings’ rail station to the seafront – a new walkway and the soon-to-be-completed Priory Square.
Both retail units will benefit from the vibrant business and education community being created in Priory Quarter. Lacuna Place, having been finished in September, provides 30,354 sq ft of grade A office space for up to 210 workers. One 8,186 sq ft floor of offices is already occupied by Bibby Financial Services, with another space under offer.
The adjoining One Priory Square office development, available from later this spring, will bring a further 44,883 sq ft of offices capable of accommodating 280 workers.
The retail units also stand opposite University Centre Hastings, which plans to extend its premises significantly to grow student numbers from today’s 700 to 2,000 by 2012. In addition, the state-of-the-art Sussex Coast College will be built just metres away by this autumn.
